Eileen Filler-Corn was honored to serve as the 56th Speaker of the Virginia House of Delegates from 2020 to 2022, becoming the first woman and the first Jewish person to hold that role. As Speaker, she delivered transformative progress for the Commonwealth, including helping make Virginia the critical 38th state to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment, passing an omnibus transportation bill that created the Virginia Passenger Rail Authority, and enacting the landmark Virginia Clean Economy Act, putting the Commonwealth on a path toward carbon neutrality. Under her leadership, Virginia also raised teacher pay to strengthen public education, expanded voting rights protections, and advanced historic gun safety laws, among many other accomplishments.

For 14 years, she proudly represented the 41st District in the Virginia General Assembly, delivering results to protect women’s reproductive health care, expand Medicaid, and provide tuition-free community college to low- and middle-income students. Prior to becoming Speaker, and during her tenure in the Virginia House, she also served as Minority Leader, Caucus Vice-Chair, and House Democratic Whip.
Today, she continues her advocacy and leadership as a senior advisor to the Jewish Federations of North America and the National Association of Jewish Legislators (NAJL). She also serves as a board member of the American Jewish Committee, the Jewish Community Relations Council of Greater Washington, the Jewish Electorate Institute, the Northern Virginia Task Force of Makom, ArtsFairfax, Jobs for America’s Graduates, and Jobs for Virginia’s Graduates (Chair).

Professionally, she continues to build EFC Strategies LLC and remains active as a public speaker, sharing her journey as Speaker and as a Jewish woman post-October 7th. Her work highlights themes of resilience, collective action, and authenticity. She also supports like-minded candidates through her political action committee, Energized for Change, which is focused on empowering others, giving voice to the voiceless, and creating lasting, positive change.
