Jeffrey M. WiceIserves as NAJL's Executive Director. He is a long-time state legislative veteran staff member, starting his career opening a Washington, D.C. federal relations office for the New York State Assembly shortly after the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) was created. In New York, he has worked for five State Assembly Speakers and four State Senate Democratic Leaders as a federal liaison, Jewish community contact, and redistricting counsel. His work as a redistricting attorney has led to work on mapping in nearly every state in the nation. He is considered a national expert on redistricting and the census and has been included by Roll Call in its list of the top 50 Washington policy insiders. At NCSL, Wice has served in several national leadership offices and co-edited and co-authored the Redistricting Redbook, a handbook for state legislators and staff.

Outside of his work for NAJL, Wice is a Distinguished Adjunct Professor and Senior Fellow at New York Law School where he directs the New YorkElections, Census and Redistricting Institute. He chairs the New York City. Bar Association Election Law Committee, serves on the Election Law Committee of the American Bar Association, and is the co-chair of the New York Chapter of the American Association of Jewish Lawyers & Jurists (AAJLJ) as well as a national AAJLJ vice president. New York City and State have recognized Wice as one of New York's top 50 over 50 and as one of New York’s legal trailblazers.
